Interview with Georg Taferner, Oesterreich

How did you hear about SISEC?

I found the SISEC homepage at the internet.

What was the reason for your stay?

I hope to find a job in Calgary and to get information about hockey coaching jobs.

What was your first impression of Canada and the Canadians?

About the Canadians, I think they are very considerate and open minded to strangers.

I thought the Rocky Mountains where closer to Calgary. The prairie wasn’t that exciting as I thought it would be, because after driving for hours it always looks the same and it gets boring. Generally Canada is a beautiful and very interesting country. I would definitely want to live there for some time.

Was SISEC helpful in getting you used to your new place?

Yes of course, also the fact that we had a car available was very helpful.

There are always four students sharing a house. Do you think this is a good idea to live in a house?

Yes, it works very well.

What were you expecting from your stay? What was your goal?

I hope to find a paid coaching job or to find a “regular” job and work as a coach on a voluntary base.

What has been your most positive experience since you arrived?

The meetings with some good hockey coaches were very interesting and maybe also very helpful for the future.
