Interview with Helen Muff, Brunnen

How did you hear of SISEC?

I’ve read an article about SISEC in a Swiss newspaper.

Why did you pick Calgary as your destination to come to?

This isn’t the first time for me in Canada. So far every trip to Canada was outstanding. As I felt like it was time to take a break from my everyday life, I decided to come to Calgary this time and to do exactly that.

What was your first impression of Canada and ist people?

As mentioned before, I’ve been to Canada before. My first impression of Calgary was great. The city is not too big, the people are friendly and even driving a car is so much more relaxing here compared to Switzerland. So far, I’m enjoying every moment.

Was SISEC helpful in getting you settled in?

Definitely! As I do not attend the language school, having others at the house helped me make contacts to students at FOCUS.

There are 4 students sharing the SISEC house. Do you like this living solution for the students?

Living at the SISEC house lets you life independent with very little rules. And having cars available is almost a most in a big City in Canada. It’s the independence that I like most.

What do you expect of you stay at SISEC?

To take in some of the Canadian lifestyle and come back home to Switzerland relaxed and ready to get back into the groove of the everyday life.

You are here to do some horseback riding. What are your experiences so far?

I’ve already had some wonderful experiences. There is no comparison to the riding in Switzerland.....nature and scenery are spectacular. Riding through the widespread nature of the Rocky Mountains….I cannot describe how beautiful that is.

What has been your most positive experience since you have arrived?

So far all has is great. I love the horseback riding and going to the country bars afterwards (especially Ranchman’s).

What do miss most from home?

Claire (my little black car), good clear tap water.
