Interview with Reto Scherrer, Buesserach

How did you hear about SISEC?

My brother trains at the PGS (Professional Goalie School, Kloten). there I saw an advertisement of SISEC.

Are you here primarily because of the sport or the language?

I don’t focus on sports or the language education more then the other. I would like to improve both of them.

Did you plan to take a language course away from home before you heard about SISEC?

No. I haven’t thought about it at all. I’m only 15 years old.

What was your first impression of Canada and Canadians?

The country is really flat. The people are very funny and friendly.

Was SISEC helpful in getting you used to your new place?

Yes, SISEC was very helpful.

There are always four students sharing a house. Do you think this is a better solution than leaving with a family?

I think we talk more with each other then you would in a home stay place.

What are you expecting from your language stay? What is your goal?

I want to improve my English.

How old were you when you began playing hockey, and how often do you train per week?

I was seven years old when I started to play hockey. I train three to four times a week.

Is there a big difference between Swiss hockey and Canadian hockey?

The Canadians are playing more along the boards. One of the differences is for sure the smaller rink.

You are also here to play Hockey. What’s your experience so far?

It’s been a good experience. I find the trainings at the Goalie Shop very interesting. You can learn a lot about the thinking of a goalie and learn how to score as a player.

How important is sport in your life?

For me sports takes a very important part in life.

How do you like the FOCUS International Language School?

I like FOCUS. The teachers try to teach in a way that keeps it fun. It’s interesting to go to school with people from other countries.

What has been your most positive experience since you arrived?

My best experience was my first NHL game. The Calgary Flames beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-0.
