How did you hear about SISEC? A friend of my father knows Fred Voser. He gave me a SISEC brochure.
Did you plan a language stay before you heard about SISEC? Yes. After my apprenticeship I thought about a stay but first I had to earn some money to finance the stay.
The country is beautiful. Most of the people are really friendly and helpful.
Was SISEC helpful in getting you used to your new place? SISEC supported me and was a big help for me at any time.
Are you the first time in a bigger city? I spent three days in London but that is my only experience in a bigger city.
There are always four students sharing a house. Do you think this is a better solution than leaving with a family? I think that the solution with the house is really good. A disadvantage is that we don’t speak English often at home (although we try to do so). An advantage is that you have people around to go out with.
I would like to profit a lot. My goal is to pass the Cabridge First and Advanced exams. An other goal is to learn a lot for the future of my life and get more independent.
I think that FOCUS is a great school. Most of the time I like it to go to class. They organize many different events so you spend lots of time with the other students..
What has been your most positive experience since you arrived? The friendliness of the people at the Badminton Club. They are really helpful and supportive in all aspects. Also a great experience was the Hockey and Lacrosse games at the Saddledome.
Which advise would you give a future student before his trip to Canada? Take enough warm cloths with you. There is a good chance you will experience some cold temperatures…..and I mean cold!! Try to talk with other people from the beginning on in order to improve your English quickly.
What do you miss from Switzerland? I miss family and friends.
You work every second weekend in the kitchen from a children camp. How do you like the work? I like it. It’s really interesting to see how Canadians cook and what they eat. Also it is a great experience to get a chance to work with some locals. |
